We have a whole new crop of staff and interns who are working to help complete State of the World 2011: Innovations that Nourish the Planet.
Today meet Amanda Stone and Alexandra Tung.
Amanda Stone is a Media and Communications Outreach intern with the Nourishing the Planet project. She recently completed her masters in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, with a focus on Behavior, Communication and Environmental Policy and Planning. Her research involved Sustainable Community Development in Detroit, with a particular focus on urban agriculture. Her undergraduate degree was in television and film at Northwestern University, after which she spent four years working in the film industry in LA before getting back to her environmental passion. She worked on an organic farm in Italy and at a sea turtle rescue center in Greece before returning to her education. She very much enjoys cooking and baking for other people, particularly with produce bought from farmers markets, doing yoga, hiking, and falls in love with every animal she sees. She is thrilled to be helping to spread the news of the exciting innovations Nourishing the Planet is discovering.
Alexandra Tung is assisting State of the World 2011 authors with their research and working on the innovations database. Before joining the Nourishing the Planet team, she worked at the Small Planet Institute and Slow Food USA. Alexandra has a BS in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University. Originally from Hong Kong, she credits the rural setting of Ithaca, NY for sparking her interest in agriculture and the environment. She is currently an M.S. candidate in the Agriculture, Food and Environment program at Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. She enjoys cooking, learning new languages, and is always ready for new adventures.
