We have a whole new crop of staff and interns joining the Nourishing the Planet team this spring. Today, meet Stephanie Buglione.
Stephanie is a senior at American University. As an Environmental Studies major she has acquired knowledge of unsustainable land and water use, chemical pollutants, and climate change. Through her studies, experiences, and travels, she has come to believe that the root of many of our problems is a general lack of connection with our natural surroundings, our food sources, and our communities. Concurrently interning on the farm at Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture, she hopes to be able to combine hands on organic farming experience with sustainable agriculture research at Nourishing the Planet for a comprehensive understanding of our food system.
Trips and study abroad experiences in Haiti, Peru, Nicaragua, and New Zealand have helped solidify her devotion to environmental stewardship. From the clear-cut mountainsides of Haiti to the grassy, sheep-speckled hillsides of New Zealand, each country taught her something about the importance of sustainability.
In her spare time, you might find Stephanie reading, drawing, playing piano, making jewelry, or brewing up a homebrew Pale Ale with her awesome roommates.
