We have a whole new crop of staff and interns joining the Nourishing the Planet team this fall. Today, meet Julia Eder.
Julia Eder is currently doing the Washington Semester Program on International Environment and Development at American University. She is from Germany, where she studies Media and Communication Sciences at University of Passau. Growing up on a farm, she has always been interested in agriculture and environmental sustainability. To help raise awareness about environmental and agricultural issues, Julia has been working for German newspapers, the online community website www.future-friends.de where young people exchange their experiences about eco-friendly behavior and motivate each other to engage in environmental activism, and for the eco-tourism organization Viabono.
Whenever she has the opportunity, Julia likes to explore foreign countries and cultures. After a trip to the Middle East in March 2011, Ecuador and Central America are next. In her free time she also likes watching movies, especially independent films and classics, skiing, jogging, and checking out second-hand bookstores.
