Although there are over a billion people facing hunger and poverty in the world today, it’s still important to take things one step at a time. Nourishing the Planet is visiting one project at a time and helping to share their individual stories of hope and success, and we’d also like to highlight another organization that’s doing their part to tell these stories. ONE is a grassroots campaign and advocacy organization committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. In addition to working with the top U.S. organizations that advocate, provide development assistance and relief to millions of people in Africa and around the world, ONE blogs daily about the anti-poverty movement. They also partner with leading non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations who also write for the ONE blog, helping to share even more stories.
This week, for example, ONE featured their partner Africare, an African-American led NGO working for improved food security, water, health and emergency responses in Africa. Africare is also sharing powerful testimonials from the field in an effort to connect us with what’s happening on the ground. On their site you can see a snapshot of daily life in Angola, refugee conditions in Chad, water resource development and more. The stories of success are out there, just waiting to be told.
